The Readings by SunChariot Newsletter
April 2013 Edition
Volume 5, Edition 4
Welcome back to the Readings by SunChariot newsletter!

Well, it's April now. or soon will be depending on when you are reading this. LOL And that means that springtime is about to start. In my end of the world, and maybe in yours too, that means that the snow is about to melt away and all the grass and flowers and trees about to spring back to life and greenery.  Always a happy time of year. There is almost nothing I love more than a warm spring breeze.

A lot is new right now where I am in my life. I have recently gotten a new job, as I mentioned recently. But it has been a job that required me to push myself outside of my traditional comfort zone. I have had to do that for this job. And that got me thinking a lot about comfort zones and how expandable they are. I saw some good examples over the last month that if we keep on pushing ourselves to be more, how our comfort zones expand. And what used to feel hard or uncomfortable becomes routine and so much easier.

And that is part of what growth is and I have always been for growth in my life. It make me think about the limits to what we can achieve in our lives. And more importantly that there may well not be any, expect those that are self-imposed. Of course what we believe we are able to do and be, plays a big role in what we do and are.

I did get myself a new "toy" recently that has been bringing me joy and excitement in my life. You will see all about that in the "New Toys" section of this newsletter.
And one more very exciting thing for me....I have decided to write a book. A Tarot book. It may well take me  a year or two to do, as I do not have a lot of free time, but I have started. It will likely, at least at first, be only an electronic book (available for eReaders, or via computer, but later may be a paper book too,)

Still very much in the planning stages so far. But I am really excited about it. I have a general idea of what the theme of it will be and where I want to go with it. And no not just a how to  book on how to read the cards. But I do not want to say to much just yet on that as I am still working it all out. If you have any suggestions at all though, feel free to add them in here or drop me a line through the contact form on my web site www,

Any suggestions are always welcome.

Oh and part of this newsletter ran into the next page again. :-)

Very very happy holiday to you!

And I wish you a wonderful start to this springtime season, Joy and peace and warmth.

(This Blog version of my newsletter is available to be viewed by anyone at anytime at this site. It will come out once a month, near the last Saturday of every month. (and full of miracles too that so many dismiss as coincidence!)

How about if this month I offer a contest for a free reading using playing cards? I don't believe I have ever done that yet. Or at least if I ever have it was so long ago that I can't remember so it must be time to do it again. LOL

The winner gets to choose if they want just a regular playing card reading (with the deck shown on the left). Or a reading with a transformational playing card deck, with more card imagery (as in the deck shown on the right).

It will be either a 9 card reading with a regular playing card deck, or a 4 card reading with a transformational deck. That should work about to the same length reading in either case. You get to choose.
To enter the contest, just click here.
In the Comments section, just write "April 2013 contest" along with the country you are in (feel free to just put the first initial of your last name if you want).
The drawing will take place on Saturday, April 20, 2013  and will be announced in the May 2013 edition of this newsletter.
Last month's winner
The winner of last month's contest was Merrin D. from the Australia.  Merrin just won a 3 card angel reading. Congratulations from me to you.
I'll be in contact soon to get the process started. :-D Very much looking forward to reading for you.
All the very best this April and beyond,

Tarot Demystified

One popular misconception about Tarot is that it is just for predicting the future. Another is that the future as predicted by the cards is unchangeable. Both these beliefs are false.  Tarot can answer ANY question at all: past, present or future. And that does not  have to refer to our current lifetimes only.

Of course each of us, as individuals, will be interested in different topics and in asking different kinds of questions. And yes past life readings are not for everyone, certainly not for people who do not believe they have had past lives or in reincarnation. But DO past life readings work?

In my experience yes. I didn't believe in past lives myself when I star\ted off on my Tarot journey. Then one day I did a reading exchange with someone where I read for her and she read for me. And the answer she saw for me was related to a past life. Which I had to admit threw me at a bit since I did believe in Tarot, but not in past lives.
That was how the subject first came up in my life. I then went out and talked to everyone I could think of on the topic and was recommended a great book on that topic. If you are curious it's called "Many lives, Many Masters" by Dr. Brian L Weiss. And that went pretty far in convincing me.

So that was my story on that. Back to the topic. :-) Yes. I have found in my experience (and talked to a number of other readers who have had the same experience) past life readings do work. They can be very interesting and even helpful. And no, not everyone is Cleopatra or someone famous. It does not at all work that way. In my experience the past lives I have looked at have all been pretty ordinary. I've never run into anyone who was famous. At least it has not come up.

But they are interesting kinds of readings. ..If you've ever looked at an image like the one above and wondered what was the life like of the people who built it. or the people who used the building, or what your live might have been like if you were living then instead or now. Or what it WAS like when you were living then instead of now...then a past life reading is an interesting way to shed some light on that.

Past life readings can also be useful for people who find  they are facing things in their lives that just feel unfair. Sometimes when you can see back into the past you see the reason for it and see exactly why it IS far. These things can at times span more than one lifetime. I did a reading once for myself that cleared things up for me in this way.

Or they can be useful for people who feel an aversion to something in their lives and have no idea why, have never even faced it in their current lifetimes. And yet there are those feelings. It might that they have an unconscious memory of something that happened to them in another lifetime. The card should be able to tell you what that was. And sometimes just the knowing where it came from can help. As they you can rationally see that it came form there and there is no reason in your current life to feel that way any longer.

So yes, Tarot can answer any question at all, including questions on past lives

Coming next month: Cold Reading
New Toys

Just got something new a few days ago that has been fun and exciting and that I just love. So I thought to share it with you here. Finally got my first eReader.  I've been seeing a lot of people reading them on the buses and subways around here for a while. Then somehow it felt like time to get my own. And there it is above. :-) Mine is a Kindle Paperwhite.

I do love to read, but what makes this a toy for me personally ( as in fun and exciting and you don't want to put it down) is how lightweight and pretty it is and easy to carry around. All the good parts of a real book with none of the other things. It does look like a real book, very white background with clear black lettering (it actually is quite a bit clearer in reality than in this photo). The screen is lit (adjustable lighting) and has no glare, so you can read clearly in any lighting. Even in the dark.

It can carry up to 1100 books on it. And with the Cloud storage it comes with an infinite amount. Like carrying your whole library with you wherever you go. Saves a lot of trees over time, the way I see it. Other fun features include the "time to read" feature, which you can see in the bottom left hand side of the screen. It estimates for you how many minutes it will take you to finish your current chapter, judging by your current reading speeds. It adjusts as needed. Useful for when you are getting tired at night, to decide if you want to finish the chapter or not. It can also tell you how long to finish the book. (the little page fold thing on the top right hand corner is what it looks like when you place a bookmark in the book)

Also, as you can see in the bottom right hand corner it tells you how far along in the book you are. In this image is it telling me I have already read 44% of it.

Another cool thing is that it arrives personalized. Mine says "Barbara's Kindle" on it, and with all your books you downloaded already on it. (if you order it from amazon). And very quick and easy to get more books. Also eReader books tend to be much less expensive than paper books, many are free so it really does pay for itself over time.

So that is where I am right now. LOL Just got it, can't put it down, I am in LOVE with it. Thought I would share.  And hey, reading is relaxing and I do have some spiritual books on it too, so it's all good. :-)

(currently reading: The 100-Year-Old Man Who Climbed Out The Window And Disappeared, by Jonas Jonasson. . Rather an unusual book, but quite funny and with a writing style that I feel drawn to)
Asking About Life

I will be using the MerryDay Tarot for you here, but Louise Poole, quite a special deck as you will see. :-)
If you know me, one of the things I believe most strongly is that everything in life is there and happens for a reason, that all is set to work out for the best in the end. That anything and everything that happens in our lives is there for a good reason, to enhance things in some way, even though at times we can only see the real reason in hindsight years later.

At times, when I tell people that...well they don't always agree. They tell me they have this or that painful experience and there could not possibly be a good reason. Even though my personal life experiences show that there always is, again even if you can only see the full reason and meaning years later and the positive thing that cane from it that could not have come in any other way.
With all that in mind, I thought to ask here this month   a couple of questions about that and see what the cards had to say about it all. Here is what happened:
Question 1: What is the purpose of pain and painful events in our lives?
(I asked this question, just in general, although each specific instance of this in our lives is an individual thing that will certainly have individual lessons to learn from and benefits).
7 of Cups

This card is talking about our feelings when we face something painful, Cups are about our feelings. And the 7's, for me, are about facing difficulties and challenges and not giving up. A 7 in Tarot for me says that if we face what we have to have and don't give up or back down we will gain some true rewards.
So, to start of the answer, this cards says that we learn certain emotional lessons by facing challenges, by being persistent and not giving up. and by following though until we succeed. This card says that not only will we have some deep success in the circumstances of our lives by facing these situations down and coming out the other side,. but also as part of the process we gain some real emotional victories. Certain emotional qualifies, like confidence, trust in yourself and a number of others develop mainly by facing hardships and passing through them to the other side. We learn to trust that we can succeed in life, succeeding over and over. And to have true success, there needs to be some struggle.
The keyword for this card is "Dream Weaver".  So part of this answer has to do with our dreams for who and what we want to be, what goals we set and what we want to try accomplish in our lives. The more faith we have in our abilities, which comes in large part by having tried things that felt hard for us and seeing ourselves succeed, the larger our dreams will be. We tend to only set goals for what we believe we can actually accomplish. The more we believe we can accomplish, the more we can try to accomplish and achieve in your lives.
10 of Cups
This is an interesting card here. It is again about our feelings, a card from the suit of Cups. And, well... difficult and/or painful situations can bring up certain emotions.  2 of the 3 cards of this answer are Cups cards, so these emotions we may need to work through are part of answer. Added to this that this is a 10 and the 10's represent the most of the element of the suit it is possible to have. So we are talking here about some strong emotions and feelings. These are meant to come up from time to time for us to have a good look at, learn more about, and all this does enhance our lives in certain ways.
This is clearly a card about closeness, family and dear friends, bonding, and love. This card is pointing out that painful experiences have a bonding effect. They bring people closer together. There is empathy, caring, sharing, selflessness.  They can bring family and friends closer together, and once that bond had grown and deepened, it continues long after the event and its emotional impact is gone.
In short. many positive emotions also come up at these times that benefit all concerned.. Empathy, selflessness, connection and oneness, deep caring...all can come up in these situations. When a connection deepens with someone that can last forever. Not to mention that a human being who had never felt pain would not have within him the capacity to feel empathy. You can't feel for someone else's pain unless you first know what pain feels like.
flipped 8 of Pentacles

This is a flipped card, a card that "flipped" out of the deck during shuffling. Flipped cards are important to a reading. They ask you to pay extra attention to their messages, to stop and think them over.  When you get a flipped card it tends to be saying that the message has some depth to it. And if you stop and think it over you will see something deeper in it that you may not see at first.
Here is a Pentacles card for you. And it's the 8. The message of this card is very similar to that of Card 1 above. Pentacles, to me, are about our goals and the work required to bring those goals from the planning stages into reality in our lives. The 8's are about our inner strength.

So really this card is talking about the level of our strength to bring what we want to have into our lives, into our reality. I would imagine that, as human beings, we all have this same capacity in similar amounts. But maybe what ti all boils down to is knowing that you have it and knowing how to use it to the  best advantage. How to really see our inner strength and to know how to use it in the most productive ways
Since the question was about the actual purpose of painful things and situations in our lives, this says that facing them has this affect on us.  We learn about our inner strength by testing it. If everything were perfectly easy with no challenges in our lives, we would never have to make use of any inner strength at all. If we had never in our entire lives had to call on our inner strength, how would we even know we had any?
This card is saying that it is by facing situations that challenge us that we get to test our inner strength. And by testing it we connect to it, we come in contact with it and know it is there, and then we learn to trust it will be there for us next time. And as we do this and the most we do so, ideally we believe our self capable of more and more. And we raise the bar on the goals that we work to achieve and we become more than we previously thought we could be. We grow, because of all this.
Question 2: What is the best way to make the best of them (of any painful situations that come up in our lives)?
4 of Wands (R)
This is a card from the suit of Wands, which is about what you want to or choose to create of the situation. It is also a reversed 4. Reversed 4s, for me, are about taking things slowly. They ask you not to act spontaneously or make any rash decisions, but instead to slow things down and think things out before trying to create any kind of change in your life.
This card is saying that at those times when things in your life feel painful or very emotional, that is not a good time to make decisions or to try to create change in your life. At the very least this card says that acting spontaneously from a very emotional place may not be as likely to help you create what it is you really most want as taking the time to slow down and to take time to think what you really want and plan the best path there.
And what you have here is a very upbeat happy card called "Celebration". If you want to create something in your life that is what you want to create, something that feels good and makes you feel like celebrating. You have to have a clear vision of something before you can set out to create it. This card simply says that if you are feeling some pain, at those times it can be hard to see the brightest clearest most positive vision of what you can create. SO it is best at those times to make decisions carefully and take time to really think things out first. Wait of you can, but don't rush any decisions.
King of Fire
This is another interesting card here. Fire can be about creating or about feeling passionate about things. Since the keyword for this this card actually IS "Passion" it is mainly that here. And Kings are about inner control, about being in total control of our inner thoughts and feelings.
What this card is saying is that we cannot always control or avoid painful situations that come up in our lives. In fact they do come up in the lives of every one of us. BUT, the good news is that we really CAN learn to control our thoughts and feelings about them. We cannot change the world around us but we can change  ourselves. We can choose to view the same event in a very painful way or in a much lesser one. We get to chose. And that is a huge thing. And we can get better at getting and maintaining that kind of control from inside of us with practice.
SO much of how much pain we feel has to do with the thoughts we choose, Our feelings come from our thoughts. And our thoughts are something we can get inner control over with practice.  A number of people can experience the exact same thing and feel differing levels of pain.  It's in the way they think. And that, we can learn to take control over.
The image here shows a sort of snake person. Snake shed their skin and "start over anew" in a sense. This too says that we can just remove an old way of thinking and replace it with a newer less painful way of viewing things if we decide to do so.

flipped 5 of Cups
Another flipped card, asking you to stop and think over its message.
Also find this answer interesting. ;-)  We are back to talking about our feelings here, Cups. 5's for me are about tradition, the mores of society, what we were taught growing up by our friends, family and even society in general.

This card asks you to stop and think of how you react to painful situations. How and why?  Is the way you react really the way that is serving you best? It is something you decided, after careful thought, will lead you to the best place and be healing for you? Or it is just something you learnt along the way but never questioned?

This cars is really asking when you come across periods of loss and transition in your life how do you feel,. some of this is learnt behavior and may or may not actually be in your highest interest. Eg a desire for revenge can be something you learnt from others in your life. But does it really help or does it just cause the other to take revenge back? Does ti really represent who you want to be or it is just learnt behaviour?
Or some people go "Why me?" whenever something feels painful. When in reality these experiences are not unique to them and are part of the universal experience and likely don't happen any more often to them than to others. They may have learnt to go into "Why me?" mode early in life. But does it really help?  Most likely these thoughts cause even more pain and prolong things.

So this is the message of this card. It says that thinking over who you react to pain, where these habits in you came from, and maybe most importantly if the ways you currently react to this kind of thing are making you feel better or worse...of they are healing or prolong any pain in your life...thinking over all this will help you deal better with any future challenges that come.

April 2013 Friendship Reading

This month I felt like using an Oracle for you. I went with The Secret Language of Colour , by Inna Segal. It's a very bright and brilliant deck, and it felt like time to bring in some bright colours, just as springtime is starting once again.

I asked the cards what messages they had for you to help you make the absolute best of your life this month. There were the cards that came up for you:

(I used upright cards  to represent you and reversed cards to represent others in your life)
Card 1: Plum

Well. if you have any challenges in your life now is the time to face them and overcome them. This month you are meant to work on that, not to procrastinate or wait until the time is right. The time IS right now. It doesn't get better than this. :-)
This image says to me that the energy is right this month of April to heal whatever is getting in the way of your ultimate success. You'll get some clear glimpses of and sense the underlying causes behind the challenges in your life. And that will help you work on them in a way that will help heal them.
If you commit to this  this month, it will help advance your life purpose. And help your faith and inner strength grow as they should this month.
Card 2:Blue

This month is a month of strength for you. You will be able to strongly access your connection to life and to others. And that will help you heal the situations in your life that need it, and anything within you that is getting in the way of where you are meant to be.

It's really about creating and maintaining balance in your life. This month, try not to spend so much time on some areas of your life that other get neglected. Try to make time for all of them. Now is not the time to work so hard you don't have enough time to relax properly and laugh. If you like to meditate, make sure you leave enough time for that. It`s really just about maintaining balance in your life and not favoring some areas while ignoring your needs in others.

That is what will activate your healing power.
Card 3: Purple (reversed)

Here is the only reversed card of this reading. So its message is not about you, but about the other people in your life this month of April. This card, of course as you can see, is about developing mental clarity. So the gist of this card is to help the others around you see clearly. If you feel misunderstood or this month, now is the time to work on fixing it. Now is the time to stop and sure they are understanding you in general and on any specific topics that come up, to make sure you are not phrasing things in an ambiguous way. It also means taking time to help the others around you develop more mental clarity and see and understand things more clearly.

It`s about helping those around you to open their energy to seeing things in new ways if they are not seeing clearly. People  often tend to see situations that feel similar to things they have already faced in pre-set ways. And to think this is just like that...Which may or may not be true.
This card is about helping others to  look at each situation as it if were new, seeing it from different angles...instead of taking it for granted and thinking they  know all there is to know about it without investigating further. It`s about about  really looking at and seeing it fir exactly what it is. Shining their inner light on it, that comes from that place of love and acceptance. And about seeing that there is always something more to be learnt from each new situation if we look at it clearly.
The advice of this card is to examine new situations this month from all angles,. with all your senses...with body mind and soul. As if it were the very first time. And to pass the ability to do this on to the others around you.  And this card says that if you do all this, surprising things will happen. And you'll see a lot less misunderstandings between yourself and the others in your life.
And last but not least, it IS an image of a flower, so be gentle and tactful and try to work on this in beautiful natural ways. Help people see clearly in a way that you would like to be helped, that would feel like a positive experience to you.
