The Readings by SunChariot Newsletter
November 2012 Edition
Volume 4, Edition 11

Welcome back to the Readings by SunChariot newsletter!

As I was writing this newsletter, I noticed  (as happens sometimes here) that this edition was developing a theme to it. This  particular edition is very much about what it means to be you. It's about our individuality, what makes each of us unique and uniquely us, Our values, our attitudes, our interactions and who we want to be in this world  How we choose to represent ourselves in the world by who (and how) we choose to be.

Don't know why, LOL, I never do these things on purpose, but that is clearly the theme of this edition.

This month, for me, has been a good one in teaching me to live more and more in the present moment and to stop long enough to really appreciate what is there. These lessons are coming to me from a few different directions right now, and they are good ones so I feel happy for that. Definitely in a place of gratitude for all that  I have felt happy for that lately and am making that my focus for now. I know there is a lot of good going on in your life too (and more to come, says the Friendship reading this month). I wish you joy and peace from the realization of it.

To change the subject, in a few days I am doing something a bit surprising for me. LOL  I know you that I have not been a big fan of wearing all the gypsy clothing to read. To me that just separates and says  to the querent that you as a reader are different than them, when to me I always want to create closeness and caring and empathy,...to connect not to separate.

But I have decided this Halloween to dress as one of the stereotypical gypsy Tarot readers. I guess if you can't beat em, join em. At least for that one day of the year. LOL Although more of a caricature of one actually, as I found this purple wig that I just could not resist today. I will have to add in the photo of my costume for you later. probably in the next edition. :-)

And with that, and before I go, I just wanted to say that to me our uniqueness that comes from inside us, from our hearts and souls and inner beings, is a beautiful and precious thing. We are who and how we are because the world needs an "us" in it. And I know that each and every one is us is appreciated more than we now and in more ways and by more people than we yet imagine. Just be yourself this month, you rock!

All the best this month of November,

Babs

Quote of the Month

(another beautiful image thanks to Ciro Marchetti at http://www.ciromarchetti.com/Home.html)

Ask yourself this question: 'Will this matter a year from now?" Richard Carlson, writing in Don't Sweat the Small Stuff

I felt I had to share this with you this month as this is one of m all time favourites. I think too often in life we worry about things that we really don't need to (not that we ever NEED to)

I find this helps me put things into perspective. I just ask myself if this will even matter a year from now, or 5 years or 10 years...and it not and it will not even be an issue then at all (which is almost always the case), then there is no cause for worry now either. Things will be resolved so I can just let it go now too. This has been a big help to me, hope it helps you too.

Readings to Manifest Prosperity

This is another in the series of ways the cards can be used to manifest what we want in our lives, rather than just to asking the cards what is coming. Tarot truly has many many more uses than just asking about the future.

As I was writing this section, and the more I talked to others about the idea of prosperity, the more aware I because that "prosperity" does not have the same meaning to each of us. Maybe it does not have the exact same meaning for any of us. It has a lot to do with who we are inside, our beliefs, our goals...what represents success to us. And all these are very individual things.

While the concept of prosperity is often associated with money, it doesn't actually have to be. My favourite online dictionary, The Merriam-Webster, (love it for the quizzes there as well as the definitions) defines the word "prosperity" as: "the condition of being successful or thriving; especially: economic well-being",.

So it certainly can refer to other things than financial ones. To me, it has more to do with achieving your goals, arriving more and more at a place that represents whatever success means to you. and well ...getting to that place that gives you that feeling of inner fireworks: joy, a sense of wonder at where you are, a celebration at where you are, and well also feeling like you are arrived and are who, what and where you want to be.That feeling of the awesomeness of life and the awesomeness of you.

This edition of Tarot Demystified is about how the cards can help you achieve this state. And although it is titled "Readings to manifest prosperity", i felt I should mention that this tool that is Tarot can be helpful in helping us to prosper in more ways than through readings. Tarot meditations are also useful for this.

The type of meditation where you "enter" the card and talk to the characters in it can help us understand our life situations better and that can help us create what we most want in better ways.

And the type of Tarot meditation where you focus on the card image and let it bring the energy of the card;s image to you, Eg focusing on the Strength card to feel stronger, can also be helpful.

One of my favourite ideas about Tarot is about it being visual poetry. And the card images themselves can help us with visualizing what we want to achieve in much the same way that vision boards can. Seeing the image of what we want before us helps us focus on it and achieve it. And finding a card image that represents what prosperity means to you can help focus that energy in that way.

That being said, back to how readings can help. Really there are a number of ways that they can. Tarot cards can answer questions on any topic we like, and knowledge is the greatest tool there is.

  • We can ask questions to help clarify inside ourselves what prosperity really means to us.
  • We can ask if there is anything we are doing now that is holding us back or slowing us down from prospering in the ways we most want to.
  • If so, we can ask why this is happening and how to stop doing those things.
  • We can ask if we are actually seeing, in the here and now, the ways that we are prospering, or being  perfectionistic and not recognizing how far we actually have come.
  • We can ask what steps we can take in the here and now that will let us achieve our idea or prosperity in the best/easiest ways
  • We can ask how our idea of what it means to be prosperous says about us and how it reflects who we want to really be in the world.
  • We can ask how our inner beliefs about how prosperous we are capable of being are affecting our arriving at where we most want to me. (and how to correct what is in the way).
  • We can ask how we can best recognize the prosperity in our lives that is all around us right now in our present moment.
  • We can ask about our views on prosperity, how hard or how easy do we expect it to be to reach that point in our lives, and why.
  • We can ask if others see us as a prosperous person.
  • We can ask how we arrived at our ideas about what prosperity actually means to us. Did we come to them on our own of just adopt the ideas of others in our lives without thinking if this is the beset path for us.
  • We can ask what our spirits need us to know about prosperity now, what they connect it with.
  • We can ask how our spiritual path connects with our path to prosperity.

I will leave you with that for now, As I could go on forever. There is literally no limit to the kinds of questions you could ask.

Coming next month: The morality of asking certain types of questions.

Asking About Life

Here's a little story from my life that happened recently.  I had an incident where I lost my temper at someone at work who was goading me. Losing my temper is a rare thing for me. And when I was discussing it with a friend they asked me if it had felt good at the time. And I had not felt anything like that. And then they told me my moral values were too strict...

And it got me thinking that yes there are some moral values that we need to agree on as a society, eg crimes and things that can really hurt others. But when it comes to the more subtle ones, that affect only us for the most part, I've always felt that that is something we need to decide for ourselves. To me, its about who and what you want to be in the world. And no one can tell you what your personal values should be.

All this got me thinking about the moral values that we do choose for ourselves, the ones about if you don't  have to feel badly for hurting someone if they hurt you first (or if it is still wrong), the ones that dictate who we are inside and how we react to others around us in subtle ways

So I thought I would stop and ask Tarot a couple of questions on that this month, since it is on my mind. I will be using the Victorian Romantic Tarot here, by Alex Ukolov and Karen Mahony.   .....as you can see, a very beautiful deck.

I asked:

1) What is it important to know when deciding on our personal moral values as they relate to who we are and how we choose to feel and react to others?

Card 1: 2 of Cups

Well this looks like a good place to start this answer. The 2 of Cups is about the feelings between two people. It's about the interaction between two people and in fact the 2 of Cups is the love card of the deck and it about love itself.

What this says in relation to the question is that, well, we don't live in a vacuum. What we do affects the others around us. The values we choose will have an effect in the world around us and in the lives of the people around us. So in effect, it's more than who we want to be as individuals, it's about who we want to be in the relationships in our lives and in our daily interactions with others,. It's more than about the kind of person we want to be inside. It's also about who we are on the :the ":outside":, who we are to the people and the world outside of ourselves.

And as the image shows it's about how the way we choose to be touches others and how that will lead them to touch us. And the latter is a consideration too. As some ways of being will touch people in one way and inspire them to act in one way towards us, and other ways of being in the world will touch people in different ways and cause them to treat us in different ways. So this advice  of this card is about looking at the big picture

And all the beautiful natural greenery in the image says, for one, that it is about following what feels and is natural to you. And also what will help things grow in your life in the way that you want then to. And yes since this is the love card, it's about what leads to happiness and optimism in you and in others around you, rather than the reverse.

Card 2: Ace of Pentacles (reversed)

The Pentacles, for me. are about our goals. And about how to best achieve those goals. Its about your goals of who you want to be in this world and how to best be that person. And a reversed Ace is about fairness, equality, being impartial. taking all the aspects of the situation into consideration, and yes your morals and ethics as well.

All this says that it is about thinking what is fair to all concerned. Empathy, and imagining how you would feel in their position and how you would want to be treated if you were. it's about thinking about how this all effects who you want to be and how you want to be that in the world around you.

This image,to me, says right now that it is about creating values for yourself that you feel proud of and can openly share with the world. Values that come from the heart of you and that you are so sure represent you as you want to be in the world so that there is nothing to hide.

Its about rising above what holds you back and feeling free to be the you you are meant to be in this world. I am getting here that if you set strong goals that come from a strong sense of who you actually are inside, who you want to be, then your life will work with you to create what you want in the best way, even sometimes by sending things you had not expected or planned on.

2) What is it important to know about the role our personal values play in our lives and how they affect what we do and are in the world around us?

Card 1: Page of Swords (reversed)

This is a card from the suit of Swords, and Swords are about our thoughts and our way of thinking. A reversed Page, for me, is about something new happening to us that we have little or no experience with.

So the first part of this answer is that one important thing is that our values affect how we react to new ways of thinking we come face to face with. And what we do with coming face to face with a new way of thinking about something can have a big effect on our lives.

What do we do when faced with someone who views a situation in a totally different way from us?  Who thinks very differently to us? Are we open to it, or do we refuse to seriously consider points of view that differ greatly from our own?

The way we react to this can change our lives in one way or another. How open we are to trying to understand the other's viewpoint and to see it from their eyes can make a real difference on our lives as well as in theirs.. if we try we may learn something that could change or improve our lives. If we are so sure that our way is the only way that makes sense to us and don't try to see things through the other's point of view,, we could lose the chance to learn something that may benefit us. How good a listener we are and what the role of listening is, are parts of the values we decide on. Listening can be not just about hearing the words, but about trying to really understand and see clearly what the other is saying.

Card 2: Knight of Pentacles (reversed)

This is another card from the suit of Pentacles, which is about our goals and how to achieve them. A reversed Knight, the way I read, is about the best possible experience of a situation possible, things working out for the absolute best,. the best imaginable outcome.

This card is saying that it is our personal values that help us to achieve our goals in the best possible way for us. And, in fact, it is our values that tell us what the best way for us to achieve our goals actually is. For example we may have a value that tells us that it is very worthwhile to work hard and be patient when working on your goals and that the results will be all the more gratifying for it. OR we may want and value instant results. And that could lead  you to not put in a much work in the long-term and not reach the same heights.

To me, this is an image of a knight in shining armor and a bride. So this hints that that our values affect our romantic relationships, and how permanent they are. Whether people prefer one night stands or deep long term relationships and why,. also stems from the values they choose for themselves. And even the very nature of what romantic relationships mean to you....stems from values you decided from in many ways. As well as the level of respect you give to your partner (or unfortunately in some cases choose not to give).

Card 3: 10 of Wands

This is a Wands card, about what we can and do create of our lives. And it is a 10, about creating the most that we can with and from our lives.

To me, this image looks like one of hardship.. There is this woman carrying a heavy load walking on rocky hard ground and looking none to happy about it.  ....more heavy loads on her back, like she just feels like life is against her and wishes it would get off her back and leave her alone.

This is NOT truth, but just a "value" or life belief that she has chosen for herself.  We have the choice in life what values we choose in this area, and how we choose to view these things. There are values we each personally choose for ourselves.

WE have that choice, We can choose to believe that life is against us and we are carrying a heavy load and things will always be hard because that is how things are. OR we can choose to believe that life is working with us, that it is always on our side and that things only happen that are ultimately in our best interests. And look forward to each day in joy. In my experience, either becomes somewhat of a self-fulfilling prophesy., Whatever we believe life to be, either way of anything in between, we will see examples in our lives to validate any viewpoint we choose. Our beliefs  Things are funny that way, but whatever we believe we look for. And when we look for examples any one things and focus on that, we find them (and ignore examples to the contrary that do not fit into our currently held beliefs and views).

How we view life, what we expect  it to be, and how we expect it to treat us are values we each personally choose. But you can imagine which way of viewing things is most likely to let you achieve your heights and deepest goals, the most that you can, and to be the most that you can be. If you chose to believe that life is working beside you to help you achieve what you most want to (and if you do you will see examples of this if you look) you may well be likely to try a lot harder and be less likely to give up then if you choose to tell yourself that life is against you. And that will allow you to reach greater heights in your life.
November 2012 Friendship Reading

I decided to use a Tarot for you that I have not used in a long time, the Rohrig Tarot, by Carl W. Rohrig.  Please note that the Death card did come up and no it does NOT have anything at all to do with real or actual death. That is a popular misconception, but the card does not actually mean that and it has nothing at all to do with anything of the kind in this reading. And in fact it has quite a positive message for you here.

I asked this fascinating deck what you needed to know this month of November to make the most of your life and here is what it said:

Card 1: The Hermit

This is a Major Arcana card and the Majors talk about important life lessons that we are meant to learn from what we are facing. This is The Hermit, about making some needed down time, alone time, to slow down and to stop and think.

So the start of your reading here says that taking yourself this time in this month of November will really benefit you now. This card says there are still some things inside you that could use some thought to work them out. And now is an ideal time to do so.

The person in the image, representing you here, has a maze/puzzle om their face. This says that now is an ideal time to stop and think about and try to make sense of anything that is puzzling you right now. The advise is not to put it aside, thinking you are too busy. Make the time for this, this November.

The image also shows you with an "open" top of the head. This asks you to try and stay open-minded as you try to make sense of things, and to be willing to think outside the box. The stars ask you to have hopeful thoughts, to believer there is always hope. And to trust that a window of opportunity will open up for you, if you now how to look and see with new eyes.

Card 2: 2 of Swords (Peace)

Swords are about our thoughts and our way of thinking and viewing the world and the situations of our lives. The 2's, for me, are about the interaction between two people. So really this card here for you this month is about the thoughts you have about someone (maybe more than one person in your life) and the situation you are in with them.

And as you can see, this card is called "Peace".  The general message is that when you think of this person (or people) and of what you share think peace.  Think about the peaceful times you have shared in the past and remember them. Think about  what peace feels like between you. And most of all, if you don't feel that things are as peaceful as you would like between you right now, think of what is needed to get things back to that place once again.

This is a very natural and beautiful countryside shown in this image. Peace is the natural state between you two. If you are not feeling at peace, then something is disrupting that. What would that be, how can you heal that?

And last but not least, this card says that thinking of peace and making those thoughts the predominant once about this person this month, will lead you to a place of wisdom in the end. And the rising balloons say that it will lead you back to a place that lifts your spirits and lets you create something of a higher caliber.

Card 3: Death (R)

Once again this card here has NOTHING to do with actual death. I know I have said it many times in my newsletters, but since it came up here that will give me a chance to demonstrate what it actually does mean. :-)

The Death card simply means transformation and change, from one form to another. This almost always a good and positive change, as it is here and you will soon see. It also means that something will end to make room for something better that will come to take its place. And that is very much the meaning it has here in this reading for you. And what will change in your life this month will be an important and positive change.

As you can see the card has the word "rebirth" featured a few times on it, so this is heralding a rebirth of something in you this month. As the image shows, you are just going to stand up straight and tall and proud.

This November is a good time to believe in yourself and to stand up for yourself and you will have the chance to do so and that will improve things in your life and create the wonderful change to come. It will come out in a natural gentle way and in a caring way and it will improve things in your life.  Assertive, not aggressive is the key.  This was a reversed card in your reading, and this tells you that facing these issues for you this month will be important life issues for you.

Whenever I see the Death card come up, since it says that one thing will end to make room for a better thing to come and take its place, I always ask after what is it that will end, and is it that will then start. I asked those two questions for you below. I pulled one card for each.

1) What will end?
5 of Swords (Defeat)

Well as you can see, this card is called "Defeat" and that looks like a good thing to end in your life.:-)

This is the 5 of Swords. Swords are about your way of thinking and the thoughts you are having and choosing. The 5's are about traditions, about what is considered acceptable by those around you, what what others expect of you and even what you expect of them, and your upbringing and what you were taught growing up your family and all those around you.

This is all saying that in some way something related to what is acceptable and expected and tradition has been playing on your mind lately. And that it has had you feeling a little defeated. Maybe someone was expecting to much of you, expecting you to be different than you were brought up to be, a difference in moral values between yourself and another, ....that type of thing. And it has had you feeling a bit defeated at times and like something was missing and worried.

The image shows you standing high atop a hard block of cement. Things may have felt hard to you in this area of your life. Or this may just be an isolated issue that will come up for the first time this November. But the good news, the REALLY good news (and I know what this refers to in my own life and this has me overjoyed! :-) ) is that in November this issue will be put to rest and come to an end. The question here was what will end. And this is your answer. All this will come to an end.

What will start?
Strength

This is a Major Arcana card once again. And that means there is an important life lesson this month for you here.

So those feelings of "defeat" are going to end this months to be replaced by strength. You are going to be in a position of strength, feel strong, be strong, and the others around you will know and sense it.

The image says that you're just going to burst out of your shell and let the real beautiful you shine through. Your inner light will shine brightly enough to dispel any darkness, or fear of confusion around you.  This can be a month where you shine that authentic light inside you out into the world stronger and more authentically than you have in a long time.

The foundation for you to do that is built. It has been there for a long time, You just have to open up and let it out as much as you can. No harder than
that. If things feel dark for the moment, if there are unknowns around you, just trust that opening up and being the real you will remove then, just as easily and surely as turning  on a light removes the darkness.

Now is your month to shine. To shine your true inner beauty back out into the world. Trust, and have faith. The world and the others in your life need what you have give from the real you.
